What I Read

Bookclub: The winning book for October is...

The Cupboard Under the Stairs by Roger Knowles.

A close one this month with at least one other book vying for first position and a couple not far behind.

Looking forward to reading this, to me, unknown author.

The discussion will start on 14 October, so time to get reading. Smile

Thanks Susanne,

We'll all be able to write Amazon reviews after this! Still ploughing through the Hillsborough Report, so hope it's got a light side to it somewhere. Even if it turns out to be another of my, er... , not so favourite books I'm happy for 50% of the cost to go to support CFS.

Is there a reason you are reading the Hillsborough Report? It doesn't seem the obvious choice for a bit of light relaxation on a Sunday evening.

I guess you're not from Liverpool Susanne! Big issue round here when 96 people died at a football match and then the police blamed them for it. The Report of the Independent Panel got big news coverage when it came out 10 days ago on the scale of the cover up revealed - police statements changed etc. Reading the actual detail is shattering. No, not light relaxation but there'll be time for that!

Tony, it was Elaine who asked.

I have been following the revelations about the cover up, absolutely tragic and unbelievable.

Indeed it was me! I remember it vividly at well, watching it on TV as it happened. I just thought it was a strange choice of reading matter and wondered if you were reading it for some legal/work reasons.

Sorry Elaine/Suzanne,

Bit of brain fog there. No direct personal/professional involvement just interest/amazement. And have in between just finished The Cupboard under the Stairs - not a fig of light relief - but more of that later!
