What I Read

Good evening all

(Well it's actually early afternoon as I write this but I thought I'd give a clue to my age! If the thread title doesn't remind you of Jack Warner then you're definitely younger than me)

I'm really looking forward to getting a lot out of this forum - both as a reader and as someone who's agreed to help my daughter promote her book while she's off being a student. I've been looking in a guest for a little bit and have already nabbed my next read as a result: Pompomberry House.

I haven't got a kindle yet (though it's on my Xmas list) but I've been using the Kindle app on my Samsung phone to read novels since March. And I love it! Mind you, I'm not completely weaned off paperbooks yet and since my job involves a fair bit of travelling I work my through a fair few unabridged audiobooks as well (listening to 11.22.63 by Stephen King at the moment - brilliant).

All the best

'Afternoon, Streaky.
Good old Jack - still playing a copper when he needed the counter in the police station to prop him up.

Typical offspring behaviour, if I may say, leaving you with a near-impossible task while she disappears to enjoy herself.

Welcome to the forum.

Hi Steve and welcome to the Forum Hello Since you travel quite a lot, the Kindle would be ideal - you can't compare reading on your mobile to reading on the Kindle, a very different experience.

Yes, I enjoyed 11.22.63 too.

Good luck with your daughter's book.

I must admit I like the phone and particurly the fact it's backlit so I can read it in the dark (ie, in bed). I heard the new Kindle is backlit though so that's the one I want to get.

Hi Steve
Like Susanne, I've just worked out that you must be Abby's father.
I take back my comment about being left an impossible task.

But you were definitely right about her being off enjoying herself. It's Freshers week this week so she's been busy joining clubs for dancing, badminton, drama, etc, etc. And then of course there's the other type of clubs each evening. Who said a writer's life was a hard one?

Mind you, Abby's course starts in earnest next week and her first assignment's an essay on 'Literary Influence' so that will keep her busy. Given the nature of some of the reviews for Blackened Cottage I wonder if Hammer Films will get a credit.

I hope Abby can find the time to come on here occasionally on the Chat with Authors thread and let us know how the M.A. is going.
