Hey Willie... different word count, different game. If less is more, then I refer you to the 6 word story challenge or my 6 word challenge blog.

There are stories there which trump Ernest Hemingway... and that's not easy!

RE: Looking for 100 word stories

Here is a new one:

This Killing Emptiness

Stars. Nothing but stars in all directions. My breathing is laboured, the oxygen mix almost too low for life. A random accident, a burst of the thrusters and now drifting. Too far for rescue. I don’t mind the view is amazing. Pin sharp stars across the infinite black veil.

If I’m going to die, this is all I could have hoped far. It doesn’t hurt, it feels pleasant. I'm not afraid. I enjoy the view. Absorb its majesty. They say the last moment follows you for eternity. If that is true then I am indeed blessed. I only wish that...

Submitted in the usual way.

What I Read

RE: Looking for 100 word stories

Drabbles are fun... even though spell check doesn't recognise the word!

I cut the grass today and composed this...

The day the lawnmower turned.

His lawnmower had been a trusted friend and faithful servant for many years... very faithful, until the day it turned.

To be fair, it had always turned, because that’s what rotary lawnmowers do. And, of course, it’d also turned at the corners of the lawn, because straight on would have destroyed the tulips and the lupins.

I am not talking about those happy days when they cut the grass together in the sunshine (the other man’s grass was never greener or shorter). I’m talking about the day his lawnmower turned bad. That was the day he gave it the fingers.

I've entered the story on the requisite form... and it also inspired a story over at 6 word stories.
