I agree with Ken.

Pruning or padding the story to exactly 100 words is part of the fun.

I agree that manipulating the word count is part of the fun.

Syd, I will change the code so that it treats new lines like spaces.

Wow - how did you find that?

It seems that a Drabble is exactly one hundred words (excluding title). I am very proud to have written a Drabble... that's something new for my CV.

RE: Looking for 100 word stories

I'm actually kinda surprised that no one has yet raised the question of 'what is a word?'

How many words in the following sentences?

"I passed the test - granted, I cheated - but I passed!"

"'That's a little far-fetched,' he agreed, in a matter-of-fact sort of way."

RE: Looking for 100 word stories

A hyphenated word makes two words one. I thinks words ned a space between them.

But what about the other sentence?

Ok. I've updated it. Newlines now count as spaces. Hyphens do not.

And anybody posting as Willie Wit can paste in as few as 76 words. But identity thieves WILL be punished. ;-)

On a parallel note. When you make a directory name on a computer, a space counts as 3 characters.

Willie's have already been written. That's why he's getting special treatment. We can hardly expect him to add 24 superfluous words.
