Hi Pete,

Can you let us know who your account is with eg Gmail, Hotmail, or an ISP account. Is there any error message when you try to send or is it just not doing anything?

RE: sending emails

Is this any help - the BT email settings.

The POP3 server (incoming mail) is mail.btinternet.com
The SMTP server (outgoing mail) is also mail.btinternet.com
Both need your BT Yahoo! email address and password; you will have to tell your e-mail program that the SMTP server requires authentication.
The SMTP server can use either port 25 or port 587. Try 587 first.

Good morning, Have checked all the above and changed SMTP port to 25 and 587 without success, This morning's error notification reads 'Unable to open connection to SMTP server and consequently not receiving mail on the Fire.

RE: sending emails

Are you connecting via BT broadband, or via hotspot ? It sounds like something on the network is physically blocking your connection to the SMTP server.

Good morning, Thank you for prompt response, apology for my belated reply. I am connecting via BT broadband, regards Peter.

RE: sending emails

Sorry for all the questions ...

Are you actually using your BT internet email address on the Kindle or a different email address (eg @mydomain.co.uk) but routed through BT's outgoing server. I know that BT often has a block on using a different domain as the origination of mails going through its SMTP system.

Assuming you are, then you could try checking the firewall settings on your router to see if anything there is blocking ports on the Kindle Fire.

Failing that, it may be worth actually contacting BT to see if there is anything in their logs as to why your Kindle Fire is being rejected.

Good morning, I am using my BT internet address. As you suggest I have contacted BT and await their response. Will advise their suggestions, regards Peter.
