Just wondering if anyone has bought one of these yet, and whether there is much noticable difference between this and the older Wi-Fi Kindle?

Are the page turns noticably faster. Is the font any clearer?

I've seen the balck one's on the train/tube and they appear to be backlit. which suprised me. Not sure I like that, unless you often read in the dark, which I haven't had to do since I was a kid with a torch under the coveers.

If it is backlit I'd like to know - for me it's the one big failing of standard Kindles - I often like to read in bed while my better half is sleeping - I haven't the heart to switch the light on and I haven't found one of the clip-on things work very well (and I've bought 3).

Are you sure they're Kindles? The only Kindle with a built in light is the Paperwhite and that's not even out in the US just yet.

I bought one only 2 weeks ago although it's my first Kindle so I can't comment on any improvements over the old one. I can say however that it is not backlit at all!
I love it!

I just can't believe how many Kindles have appeared in such a short space of time. It seems only weeks ago when I heard about these electronic book gadgets and I scoffed at the idea. Now there is a new kind out every week. I am glad I am one of those people who needs to keep up with the Joneses and have the best gadget because I would be bankrupt.

I think I am happy with my regular Kindle 4. I love it.

Ray, have you thought of buying one of those lights which are on a headband? they have them in the 99p shops, you could always try one at that price.

I bought one for GD aged 7 and she loves it. I have a collection of childrens books for both her and younger sister on my kindle. She loved using my KK so much that when the £69 one appeared, well I just had to get it.
No it is not backlit. It feels light and is very easy to use. I used it for a number of days prior to handing it over. I downloaded the childrens books and sorted them into collections including Grandmas childhood favourites. I love the fact that now we can use parental control so she cannot access my archive or the web. She reads and discusses what she has read with both her parents and myself. Which is great. Her teacher also is a kindle lover. She has a special sister collection for the little one age nearly 4 and reads to her as well. To see them both huddled on the sofa is lovely. Now when she has a sleepover at mine we both lie in bed reading!!!! Great for bonding!! Heart
