It's about a teenage girl who is a private detective.

But it's so much more than that.

You have to seek it out I'm afraid, it's quite hard to find.

I'll happily second the OP's recommendation. VM is a wonderfully executed twist on the staple genre conventions for the feisty young female sleuth. Cleverly written, wonderfully acted - it's something of an neglected and under-appreciated gem of a series.
Amiable author of The Blue Hour and Shadowchaser, with an unceasing addiction to tea, sweet confectionery's and the avoidance of actual working practices.
