I'm sure you are right... but I also think it is entirely possible that some people alive now will live for thousands of years. Of course, everyone will die eventually, but the medical technology to allow (some) people to be more-or-less immortal is very close.

Plih. You made that up. I'm imagining the Amazon reviews if I used it...

Well you know what they say: 97% of statistics are made-up on the spot!

If you cut the head off a cockroach the body will live until it dies of starvation - which can take a week.

That's not very nice. Poor cockroach. It can't help being a cockroach.

It may not be very nice, but it's one of many reasons why cockroaches would survive disasters that would wipe out the human race. Can't help but admire cockroaches.

Call me a wimp, but I wouldn't want to survive a disaster headless for a week...not able to chat, starving hungry and bumping into everything.

RE: Can you tell me an interesting fact?

New Zealand was the first country in the world where women gained the vote in national elections, in 1893. The (mostly terribly civilised) campaign didn't involve "suffragettes", as that word didn't enter the language until the 20th century.

Here's one that is of interest to me personally as I homeschooled my kids;

Homeschooling is the fastest-growing form of education in the United States.
