What I Read

Let's try again...

Last week I had an amazing idea to write a new novel from scratch in 2 months and use that as a "hook" to get people interested. I even started a blog about it.

After seeing sense, I deleted that blog and am now writing a novel at my own pace that will be out when it's good and ready.

In the meantime I found a copy of a manuscript I did back in 2003 that I thought I had lost forever. Basically I shelved the book when I finished as I didn't think it was that good. Plus this was in the days when eBooks were just an interesting idea with little hope of taking off, so as traditional publishing was the only way to go I didn't bother.

Roll on 2012 and Amazon and their lovely Kindles!

When I found the manuscript, I read it (it was like reading someone elses novel for a second time- familiar yet somewhat alien) and found it wasn't as bad as I remembered. I gave it to someone at work and they were impressed with it, so I have tidied it up, polished it and polished it some more and put it up on Amazon on Sunday night.

I haven't done any advertising for it yet, I don't really know where to begin with that! BUT I have had 2 sales (yes, two! wow!) on amazon.com and 2 from the UK (that I can't account for, 2 more are from workmates).

So yeah, in a week I have gone from finding a long lost manuscript to being a (self)published author!

I'm hoping this will keep me motivated to getting the next one finished in a timely fashion. I would imagine there's going to be quite a difference between me the 26 year old writer and me the 35 year old writer!

Anyway, this thread isn't for advertising the book (other than my signature), so I will make a thread in the proper section with all the details.
