The 7" Kindle Fire standard vs 7" Kindle Fire HD

I was curious as to whether there is any real appeal to the bog standard 7" Kindle Fire now?

Sure, it's better than the original fire, with a faster processor etc, but priced at £129 versus a superior Kindle Fire HD 7" at £159 it seems a bit of a bad choice.

For just £30 more for the HD, you are looking at twice the storage, a better screen and sound, superior Wi-Fi, lighter weight and longer battery life. That sounds like the bargain of the century.

Totally agree, the 16meg one for me, so I can watch HD quality Footy, store my limited music collection, and use it as a separate monitor for the freebie HD Camcorder I got when i upgraded my LG TV, Free Camcorder

Plus Bluetooth and HDMI options are great.

Wasn't interested in the larger 8.9 as an import, as like the iPad it would be like carrying round a slate. For once SMALL is beautiful.

So saying all these things, FUEGO has served me well, after I stopped using the accelerator browser option. It will be now used as the FAMILY Holiday Tablet and reader. The Dentist next to my flat has WiFi, so we can use that, so Family can e-mail - Read - Tweet - etc.

Roll on the 25th October when FUEGO NUEVO arrives

Stupid question here;
On a TV it's generally accepted that, unless you have a screen size of over 30", there's little advantage in going HD. So, can you see any difference on a 7" tablet?

I would definitely say yes, bearing in mind that you hold a tablet very much closer to you. On my iPad i3 it's very noticeable, the difference between SD and HD content.

Just cancelled my UK Fire 7" HD order and placed order on Amazon.com seeing as I had some vouchers left on there and I'm getting Paperwhite shipped anyway so cheaper for me to do it that way.

was getting the normal KF for the missus for Xmas, just cancelled and ordered the HD, sure it'll be better than mine, but I love mine to bits anyway.
