Authors who come across copies of their books for illegal download can issue a DMCA takedown notice to any hosting provider and to Google.

For Google, go here (you will need a Google account) https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/dmca-dashboard

For a template DMCA notice which can be sent to a hosting company, go here : http://www.ipwatchdog.com/2009/07/06/sample-dmca-take-down-letter/id=4501/

For more information on DMCA go here : http://www.dmca.com/

Lou, now that you are here ... all those Chinese posts, are they April's fool fun or are they spam? It's a bit much, I think.
Not Chinese, Dorte. Korean.

No need to apologize! Our moderators do a great job. Thanks
I just didn't know if it was spam or might be a joke from yesterday. I could see the funny side to changing the forum into Chinese for a short period.

Not stupid at all. I only knew it was Korean because two of my children are Korean.

It wasn't them! Honest!

Forgot to mention that I sent the abuse address of one site (according to their domain record) an email saying the domain was dodgy.

I also emailed Sainsbury's eBook lot and suggested they Google their footer and start issuing takedown notices or risk their good name (!). I figured they'd have more resources than me doing it alone.

Will continue digging.

Thanks, Lee. Like you, I'm getting messages asking why I said things on forums I've never visited. It bounces back on some individuals as well as bringing the good name of this forum into disrepute.

RE: Fake Kindle Users Forum - Colin Bell - 02 Apr 2015 01:34 PM

Just to add to this thread...if it's genuine (I'm getting paranoid now!). I googled my own book and found a thread, supposedly on KUF, saying someone was looking to download my book cheaply. I tried to reply but the post reply link was dead. I got distracted and lost the original page. When I googled again, the same link produced a different forum, something like Comic Lovers Forum but each post was very similar to the fake KUF site although everyone now had a new name and avatar. I tried a 3rd regoogle and a 3rd fake site popped up. Always looked genuine but none of the links worked. Cant really see what they are trying to achieve. Got through our works quite stringent malware filter...this is the link...any ideas what it is all?...removed!

I was re-routed to the same site searching for my book yesterday. My 'Malwarebytes' software came up with 'potentially malicious website' and did so again today. Please remove the link.
