Fake Kindle Users Forum - Lou - 30 Mar 2015 12:19 PM

Hi everyone, I just wanted to bring to your attention the fact that there is another site which has scraped content from this site and is masquerading as us.

I have issued takedown notices where appropriate and hopefully it will be removed.

For the time being, please be careful when following any links here from outside sources. If the domain is not then it's not us.

Best wishes,

Thanks, Lou. this has been causing me a headache, as you know.

Thanks, Lou.

I'm just bumping this thread to keep it in everyone's view.

There seems to be much discussion on this fake site about getting books free form pirate and torrent sites. Apparently I joined in this discussion? Or rather, someone has used my signature link at the end of his posts. Katie has had a google alert about someone wanting torrent copies of her books - but from three or four years ago. (Slow alert!) I think it's this site.

Lou, I don't know if this has any connection, but I have suddenly started getting Google Alerts for comments made about my books on Torrent sites at least three years ago. Each is a different site, but they're all asking how to download my books for free. It seems really weird that Google is just picking them up.

ETA. Sorry, I cross-posted with Kath.

Just bumping this so people who've been out all day don't miss it.

What? That's awful.

I too have had many Google alerts leading me to fake forums where bots appear to be discussing where to pirate my books, but this is the first time I've heard about a KUF imposter.

The problem for me was that someone was posting there with a link to my website, making it sound as if I were making the comments.
