Kindle now permanently off - blank screen!

Ok..
plugged my kindle into my computer as normal, and I put a PDF on, as normal.
However after that my kindle when I turned it on was stuck on the 'opening...' page.
So, thinking it was merely frozen I did the 5 second slide of the power button thinking that would restart it..

but nothing!!

did the 15 second restart and still nothing!!!

Really worried my kindle has died with a complete blank screen!!!!! What can I do to revive it?!?!

Kindle keyboard 3G owner since 20 Oct 2010... and loving it! Utter kindle joy Kindle Smile

left it to charge straight from the mains for a while, and then did the full 30 second slide button restart thing, and it loaded up again exactly like the first time I turned it on.

Wow, very scary thought there that I'd bust my kindle!

Mind you, one moment like that with pretty constant use since I bought it in Oct is pretty good going really lol.

This happened to me today - I also had an error message saying Reboot error 200 contact customer services. So I did so, and they are sending me kindle no.3! Something isn't quite right I think!

Where is human nature so weak as in the bookstore?

aww fifi! Im really sorry that happened to you!

I havent had any error messages come up, just that the kindle froze once on me and I had to do a 30 sec button hold for it to restart.

Bought my new Kindle yesterday and after some difficulty getting connected to the internet was able to browse the books-thanks to KIndle Support.
But unfortunately my pleasure was short-lived and I never even got the chance to down load a book.
Even though I was in my own home a few metres from the hub I lost connectivity whilst browsing and got a message to that effect whilst browsing in browsing mode.

Then, whilst working my way through the Settings Menu I was unfortunate enough the pull my cursor onto the section ( on page 3 of 3 I think) that deals with on-line groups like Facebook etc (not that I am a member of any such group). When I tried to move the cursor on I realised it was stuck and no matter what I did to I could not move the cursor or back out/get out of Settings - the KIndle had frozen.
I then decided to switch off the Kindle with a view to re-starting it to clear the freeze but then found it would not switch off - nightmare !
So I pulled the slider to the right (less than 15 seconds, 15 seconds then longer than 15 seconds) and it eventually switched off.
Unfortunately it would not switch back on - even thought the green light (behind the slider) is illuminated.
I put it back onto charge for a while this morning thinking maybe it had not been fully charged but still no re-start.

I think this is one dead Kindle - please advise.

Lou, sorry to raise a new and unrelated query by piggy-backing onto this reply to a different topic but I'm finding KUF a little frustrating and couldn't find another way into the Forum (although I'm sure its staring me in the face) - I seem to be breaking some rule.

My new query is that whilst sending my own documents to Kindle via an email is easy and suuccessful, sending them from my computer via the USB cable using drag and drop is not successful. I can see all the documents on Kindle from my computer using Explorer but they do not appear on the Kindle Home Page as would an emailed document and yet there seems no obvious route to get at them. Same with music - the music plays OK but you can't see a list in a folder to select - apparently the files just play in the order they were transferred .

How do I get to see all my transferred documents ? Can they be made to come up on the Home Page or am I missing something. In Explorer I can see several folders on Kindle and I've tried putting my files in the Music Folder or the Documents Folder or the Active Content Folder but still no joy.

Stan, I'm going to try to answer your questions, since I happened to read your post before someone has posted an answer.
Regarding the sending of documents via email working, when drag and drop doesn't seem to - sending via email will allow amazon to convert the documents to a kindle-friendly format, whereas drag-and-drop will not.
You won't be able to "see" your files/folders as the kindle software is not designed to include a file explorer like windows has. It will only display them for you to read, if they are in the correct format to be displayed on the Kindle. It is a very streamlined device - there's not really a need for you to be able to view files or manipulate them.
