Cases are generally for storing your Kindle safely and are removed when you read. Below is a short overview of the different case types
Neoprene is a soft synthetic material that is very effective at providing shock and impact resistance as well as being very lightweight. Neoprene cases usually come in a variety of colours and in many cases are easily washable.
EVA or Ethylene vinyl acetate is a synthetic polymer that is slightly firmer than neoprene and designed specifically to absorb shocks making a great choice for a durable but lightweight Kindle case.
A hard case is particularly useful if you are transporting your Kindle in a backpack or other luggage as it will prevent other items from crushing or damaging the Kindle. Typically a hard case will be heavier than other solutions but will provide the best protection in harsh conditions.
Water Resistant / Waterproof Cases
If you are planning on using or carrying your Kindle around water then suitable protection is a must to avoid damage to your e-reader. To ensure you have adequate protection consider your requirements carefully when choosing which type of case. A water resistant case will protect your Kindle from damp, rain and water splashes but if you are going to read your Kindle in a pool, bath or carry it in an environment where it is at risk from being submerged then you need to have a full waterproof case. As well as protecting from water, a good case will also protect from sand, snow and dirt.
A pouch will provide minimal protection for your Kindle but keep the screen covered and safe from scratches. Pouches are typically very light to carry around and easy to stow in a handbag or pocket.
