About Colin R. Parsons

I'm Colin, a children's/YA fiction author from Wales in the UK. I've written two series of books. Wizards' Kingdom (book 1) The Obelisk of Ashmar (book 2) and Jarrak's Darkness (book 3) and the final in the trilogy (not in ebook format).

John Lloyd Waterstones Bath - review of Wizards' Kingdom.

'A trio of wizards are forced to unite in the shifting lands of Wizards' Kingdom as a dark and evil force spreads over the land. Zendal the old, Crasmount the corpulent and Mydar the wizard apprentice must rescue Lord Torsk from the evil clutches of Evilian. To Spellock Castle they must travel where wizardry comes second place too comradeship and devious cunning. Accompanied by magical friends and pursed by a dark army time is running out to save Lord Torsk. 'Wizard's Kingdom' is a story which begs to be read by the crackle and comfort of firelight. Fans of JR Tolkien will feel instantly at home in rolling valleys, deep mines and amongst the legendary creatures. Colin R Parsons invites young readers to begin a journey through his fantasy series with the relish of a skilful storyteller familiar with all things wonderfully Hobbiton.'

'Jimllfixit' a new reader and fan of the Wizards' Kingdom series.

'i was not sure about these books, but having read the first book and now starting to read the second book of the trillogy i can't put it down. the chapters are nice and short and if i get interrupted, i know i can quickly get to the end of the chapter. the characters are wonderful and some how fit perfectly into the storey. the illistrations are good and help you see in your own mind what they are and look like. the storey in not boreing and mundane, there is always something going on and it drags you into the book and its characters come to life. there are twists and turns and just makes me come back for more, hence i have bought all 3 books. i am delighted to say that it is these books that have got me back to my favorite hobby of reading again and i must thank you for making me realise what i have been missing.'

My second series is in ebook format and is called; The Curious World of Shelley Vendor (book 1) & The Curious World of Katie Hinge (book 2) and the final book in a two book set.
I started writing short stories about 15 years ago and went onto novel's. I love fantasy, especially author's like Tolkien and CS Lewis and so a wizard's story was my obvious first step. Thus becoming the Wizards' Kingdom trilogy.
The Curious World series is in the same sort of genre as His Dark Materials - Philip Pullman and Alice in Wonderland - Lewis Carroll. These books are not only enjoyed by children, but by teenagers and adults alike.
I also have a sci-fi novel waiting in the wings and other work on the back burner.

This is a review from a reader called 'Fantasy Fan' about my series.

'The first edition of Colin R Parson's `Curious World' series is one of the best fantasy books I've read in a long while. It has all of the breath taking suspense of The Lord of the Rings trilogy but mixes in the page-turning fun of newer novels like the Power of Five series by Anthony Horowitz. Believe me, if you like Harry Potter or The Spiderwick Chronicles the then this is definitely the adventure for you. It's fast, funny and leaves you wanting more. You will not be disappointed, whatever age you are.'
